Conconcreto, leadership in the colombian construction sector with international expansion

Conconcreto is a leading Colombian construction company in the infrastructure and building sector, in charge of projects such as hydroelectric power plants, tunnels, highways, viaducts, bridges, ports, airports, shopping centers, and housing. The company has been in the market for more than 60 years and currently has a presence in Colombia, Panama, and the United States, with a team of 3,273 employees.

Conconcreto has proven to have a solid operational management; in 2021, it reported revenues of $ 164.47 million dollars, 39.71% more than 2020. Likewise, it reported an ebitda of $33.43 million dollars, a growth of 20.32%, which reflects its good economic results and ability to grow. 

CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN COLOMBIA

The construction activity in Colombia is divided into two main branches: building, which is primarily dedicated to housing solutions, and civil infrastructure works. According to data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), the construction GDP grew by 17.3% in the period compared to that of 2020, as a result of the post-pandemic economic recovery. 

GROWTH TRAJECTORY AND EVOLUTION

The Company was founded in 1961, and between 1961 and 1966 IMPAC Y Agregados Del Norte, now known as Industrial Conconcreto, was founded. 

In 1986 and 1993 Fundación Conconcreto and Conconcreto Internacional were established, respectively. Likewise, between 1995 and 1996, Confesiones CCFC S.A. was awarded. In 2003, Inversiones Conconcreto was incorporated. 

The Company was listed on the Colombian stock exchange through a public offering in 2010. 

During 2012, Inversiones Conconcreto and Constructora Conconcreto merge; in this same year shares were issued for the second time. 

In 2015, Grupo Argos and Constructora Conconcreto formed an alliance. During this same year, a private placement of 20% of shares was made, with the purpose of becoming a strategic partner with Vinci. 

In 2016, Conconcreto was recognized as a highly innovative company by Colciencias. 

During 2017, the first large format 3D printer was launched and the first housing logo was printed.

In 2018, the EPG strategy was consolidated through the integration of TID and a new building model was defined from the EPG program. 

In 2019, the digital transformation in the company's business model took place. 

Between 2019 and 2020, the business model was consolidated in South Florida through Conconcreto United States. In 2020, the investment fund in the United States was created: Century Asset Management.

LONG-TERM SUSTAINABLE STRATEGY

Conconcreto has placed sustainability at the core of its operations, seeking to implement social, environmental, and economic initiatives through its comprehensive sustainability strategy, to inspire a sustainable future and ensure the Company's long-term sustainability. 

In the economic environment, they seek to innovate, transform digitally, and generate new businesses; as a result, in 2021 they launched the investment fund in the U.S. Midtown Doral Multifamily, the first project that will be done as a result of the alliance with Century Homebuilders in South Florida with housing and office spaces. 

Conconcreto is committed to the development of communities and people through social development. They seek to be part of the lives of their collaborators and work with quality, productivity, safety, passion, and commitment for construction and generation of progress in the territories. 

Commitment is shown by caring for the planet and their territories with their social environment; as part of this, in HidroItuango they work to take care of the water resource through the reuse of water in the processes of the crusher and the concrete plant.

These pillars helped them to obtain environmental achievements and recognitions, such as: 

  1. Inaugurating the Habitat of Innovation of Infrastructure and Construction for Colombia.
  2. Receiving recognition at the Proptech Latam awards as the best construction company that is committed to innovation.
  3. Be recognized by Camacol with the Social Responsibility Award for the Cultural Transformation program and the ELE16 project.
  4. Ranked 13th out of 340 companies in the ANDI and Dinero magazine's Business Innovation ranking.
  5. To have 3 projects in the process of CASA Colombia certification, which recognizes their integral sustainability.
  6. Receive the recognition of Green Leader CASA Colombia by the Colombian Council of Sustainable Construction.
